4 Things You Must Do Before Selling Your Old Android Device

Are you about to sell your old Android device so you can get a new high-end smartphone? If the answer is Yes, then it’s important to take certain precautions before you hand over your old phone to its new owner. You need to ensure that you have no important data left on the device so that the buyer could not misuse it and you have a copy of all your important data that is on that device.
So if you’re about to pull the trigger on selling your Android phone or tablet, here are few simple steps you should take before selling your Android device to make sure that none of that bad thing happens to you.

Backup All Your Phone Data

The first thing you should do before selling your smartphone is to back it up. Sure, you don’t want to lose some important data that you had on your old handset. You may copy all your data to your PC by connecting it through a USB cable or you may upload all the files to a cloud service like Dropbox, Google+, and OneDrive.
The easiest way to back up your Android phone data is to use your Google Drive account. You can back up everything like photos, app data, bookmarks, calendar, contacts, and even your Wi-Fi network settings. To do it, head to Settings > Accounts > Google account and select all the data you want to sync for backup.

Factory Reset

After backing up all the important data, you need to wipe them off. This to prevent its new owner from getting your important data. Factory resetting your device will erase all data on your phone, including photos, music, documents, installed apps, contacts, calendar, and messages. To do this, go to Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset.

Remove Memory Card

Don’t forget to remove your memory card. You’re probably going to want to continue using it on your new device. If you do plan to give away your microSD card, be sure to back up the contents and thoroughly wipe the card. You can erase your SD card by navigating to Settings > Storage, then tap ‘Format SD card’.

Clean It

This is a small thing, but it’s quite important. Cleaning your device can help you sell your device at a better price. Wiping of the screen, removing any dust, and cleaning inside the ports are great ways to keep your device clean and looking brand new.

4 Simple Methods to Read WhatsApp Messages Without Sender Know

As we all know WhatsApp is know showing the blue check marks which lets senders know the recipient has read the message. This particular feature has an advantage as well as disadvantage.
The advantage is you will know whether the receiver has read the message or not. But at the same time, the disadvantage is if you do not reply to the sender right away, the sender may feel awkward and will assume that you have ignored them.
To avoid such awkward situations, here are few simple methods you can use to read WhatsApp messages without alerting the sender’s attention to their action by triggering the blue ticks.

1. Disable Read Receipts Option

Disabling “Read receipts” option is the probably the easiest method to read a Whatsapp message without notifying the sender. By doing so, you’ll disable the ability of WhatsApp to show blue ticks to the sender that tells them that you’ve read their message. But the downside is that you will not be able to see the double blue check marks when someone has read your message as well. Here’s how to disable it.
  • Open WhatsApp and go to the ‘Settings’ menu
  • Tap on ‘Accounts’ and then on ‘Privacy’.
  • Untick the ‘Read Receipts’ option

2. Peep from the Notification Bar

This is another simple method to read WhatsApp message without alerting the sender. Whenever you get a message on WhatsApp, it shows a notification on your notification bar. Simply swipe down the notification area from the top of the screen and you can easily read the complete or partial message from the notification bar without opening the app. The blue ticks show only when you open the app to read messages.

3. Turn Off WiFi/ Mobile Data Connection

Once you get a message don’t open the app immediately, turn off the WiFi or mobile data and this will take WhatsApp offline. Now go ahead and read the message and you won’t alert the sender since you’ll be reading the message from app cache. To ensure you don’t blow your cover make sure to close WhatsApp app before turning off your WiFi/ mobile data connection.

4. Place WhatsApp Widget to Your Home Screen

If you don’t want to go the extreme length of turning off all your phone’s connectivity. You can place WhatsApp widget on your home screen to read the message at a glance. Since reading message via widget doesn’t open the app so you can keep the blue ticks from showing up. You can even reply to other messages without having to send read receipts to the sender you wish to ignore. But the problem of this method is you can see text messages and emoticons only, images, videos, and voice notes are not supported.
To add the WhatsApp widget to your home screen, tap and hold on a clear area of the screen, then choose Widgets. Keep swiping until you find WhatsApp, tap and hold on the WhatsApp widget, then drag it to where you want it to appear on your home screen.

How to Disable WhatsApp Blue Ticks Read Receipt on Android ?

WhatsApp launched a new feature called ‘Read Receipt’ that allows users to see if a message that they have sent has been read by the receiver. This feature was implemented by the way of showing double blue ticks in the bottom-right corner of the WhatsApp message bubble. When your message has been read by the recipient, the double grey ticks will turn into double blue ticks.
With the blue tick marks, it’s now easier to keep track of a conversation on WhatsApp. However, some users who love privacy found it annoying with the update. If you don’t like the ‘read receipt’ feature, you can easily disable the blue ticks on WhatsApp. Please note that once you disable this feature, you won’t be able to see the double blue check marks when you send a message as well.
Here’s how you can disable WhatsApp blue ticks on your Android device.
  • Launch WhatsApp
  • Go To Settings -> Account -> Privacy
  • Untick the ‘Read Receipts’ option
  • Done! Now even if you have read the Whatsapp message, the sender will not receive a blue tick marks.
This feature however doesn’t work in group conversations so the sender will still be able to see the blue ticks whenever all the members of the group read his or her message.
